User1912 wins the PokerNews Mystery Opening Event on 888 Poker

A player from Moldova, User1912, overcame tough moments and became the champion of the largest tournament at the PokerNews Online Championship 2026, winning a prize of $7,614.

On October 19, the largest tournament so far in the PokerNews Online Championship 2026 series concluded — the PokerNews Mystery Opening Event with a $109 buy-in and an $80,000 guarantee. The tournament was held on 888 and attracted 730 entries. The winner was a player from Moldova with the nickname User1912 , who managed to overcome tough spots over two days of play and ultimately took home the top prize — $7,614 including bounties. Final Table: Battle for the Title and Pivotal Hands The final table of the Mystery Opening Event began with eight players, each already guaranteed a solid payout, but the fight for the main trophy promised to be intense. Early on at the final table, User1912 's stack dropped to less than 15 big blinds after an unsuccessful hand against TheHueyLewis : the Moldovan player's pocket sixes lost to his opponent's queens. Despite this, User1912 managed to regroup and continue the battle. The first to leave the final table was Brazil's MachadadaRS . In one hand, he missed his flush draw against Clay_Born 's pocket kings and was left with a mere 0.3 big blinds, busting out on the very next hand. Finishing seventh was C3H5NO33 , who lost a key hand to TheHueyLewis . C3H5NO33 opened with ten-ace of hearts, and TheHueyLewis called from the small blind with pocket sixes. The flop brought a set for the sixes, and after a ten hit the turn, all the chips went into the middle. The Road to the Top 5: Bustouts and Turning Points The next twenty minutes saw tense play until the next elimination. German player Nik32112 lost several pots and, after another forced bet, was left with less than five big blinds. His final hand — jack-seven of hearts — couldn't hold up against otteotteotte 's king-eight, who shoved first. Soon after the break, the final five became four. Clay_Born shoved from the small blind with queen-four of spades, and TheHueyLewis called from the big blind with king-ten. The flop brought three tens, ending Clay_Born's run. Key Hand: Aces Arrive at the Right Time The four-handed battle lasted over half an hour, with no player able to take a clear lead. The situation changed when otteotteotte made a minimum raise from early position with pocket eights, and User1912 3-bet from the big blind. Otteotteotte then shoved for 26 big blinds, and User1912 called with pocket aces. The flop gave User1912 a set, which held up, making him the chip leader, while otteotteotte was left with less than five big blinds and was in the big blind the very next hand. Nevertheless, otteotteotte managed to double up twice and get back in the game, but his next attempt to double up failed: he shoved with ace-ten against Lurich28 's ace-five of hearts. A five hit the river, and otteotteotte was eliminated. This left User1912 and two Brazilians — Lurich28 and TheHueyLewis — in the game. In a blind-versus-blind battle between the Brazilians, Lurich28 improved to two pair on the turn with jack-eight and put TheHueyLewis all-in on a draw-heavy board. TheHueyLewis called with queen-jack and lost, setting the heads-up lineup. Heads-Up: User1912's Comeback and Decisive Aggression At the start of the duel, Lurich28 had 70 big blinds to User1912's 21.3 — it seemed the Brazilian had victory in hand. However, User1912 wasn't ready to give up. In one of the first hands, he shoved with ace-king against Lurich28's queen-jack of spades. The flop brought a queen, but two kings on the turn and river allowed User1912 to nearly even the stacks. A tense battle followed, with the chip lead changing hands several times. The key moment came when Lurich28 3-bet all-in for over 36 big blinds with ace-six, and User1912 called with ace-king. After this hand, User1912 had a nine-to-one chip lead, and the very next hand decided it all: Lurich28 shoved with queen-jack, and User1912 called with pocket deuces. The board was safe for the lower pair, and User1912 became the champion, earning $7,614 including all bounties. On October 20, three more Super Knockout tournaments are scheduled, where each elimination earns a solid bounty. In the $320 buy-in event, each knockout pays $150; in the $8.80 event — $4; and in the $109 buy-in tournament — $50 per knockout. The full schedule of remaining series events is available on the website, where you can choose the right tournament and try your hand at winning the PNOC champion title. Features of the Mystery Bounty and Super Knockout Formats The Mystery Bounty format differs from classic bounty tournaments in that the size of the extra prize for eliminating a player is only revealed after they bust. This means every knockout can bring either a small or a very large reward, adding an element of surprise and extra intrigue. In Super Knockout tournaments, half the buy-in goes to the prize pool and the other half to the bounty pool. For each elimination, a player immediately receives a fixed amount, encouraging aggressive play and increasing the tournament's pace.
